SUMMARY

American Summer Kids Playing 1.jpg

Mikey has high hopes for the upcoming summer. After finding out his US Army Dad is missing overseas and won’t be home to help him prepare for summer baseball tryouts, he vows to practice hard and try out with the help of his Grandpa and his boss Eddie. Spending time with his gang of loyal pals and puppy Noodle, riding bikes, pool parties, playing baseball and getting in trouble is great until he runs into the beautiful and slightly older Kelly. Kelly is the perfect 15yr old girl and Mikey knows it. His practicing begins taking a backseat to impressing Kelly but he perserveres, makes that team and life looks good. But, can he earn a starting spot and keep it while putting out fires, dealing with bully Buck and his friends, his pal Puff going missing and his Coach Eddie unimpressed with his play.

MIA TALERICO (Disney’s Good Luck Charlie) will play Kelly, the quintessential girl next door. Big smile with gorgeous long blonde hair and big baby blues; she is as cool as she is funny and thoughtful. Will she distract Mikey or become the most important person in his life, ever!?

All American 14yr old Mikey is the man on a mission. It’s a lot for a 14yr old. Can he make the team, play well, keep his friends and earn the love of an older nearly ungettable girl? Logan Gray plays Mikey.

DIRECTOR’S VISION

AS+Director+Vision+pic.jpg

I grew up in a very quaint, family oriented All-American town in NJ. I miss those days of freely riding bikes down the street lined with sprinkler sprayed lawns and squared simple properties.I craved this portrayal in a film that my children and parents can see TOGETHER. Bringing families to cinema sharing that time away from life, stress, devices and from reality is what American Summer is meant to do. To reconnect our national pastime and universal life force, love, into one grand experience of fun, love, laughs and hope. I have been told this project is reminiscent of Bad News Bears and Wonder Years....I would say we are somewhere in between....I want a 5 year old to be able to enjoy this experience without hearing overly crass language or see alcohol abuse but by the same token I want the audience to have silly laughs and memorable moments that they can take away with them forever.

The connection of friend to friend, sibling to sibling, parent to child, grand and great grandparent to child and coach to player are all so molding and important for our youth. Exploring a child's desire to be free, to play, to compete, to improve, to be compassionate and help others and to love and be loved are what life is about. Lets go down this road together and make a long overdue and much needed in the marketplace, family film. AMERICAN SUMMER is for everyone!
